Submission for Bevy Jam #2.

There's a bug in the browser version where when first loaded, you may fall through the floor. If this happens, just refresh the page and it should work correctly.

Escape the hotel.

  • Press TAB to toggle menu
  • Interact: Left click
  • W/S/A/D to move
  • Shift to sprint

For better performance, use a native build rather than the web version. If running in browser, runs best in chrome/chromium.

All assets were created for, and after the start of the game jam. (Music, sound fx, game levels, models, etc...)

Amazing. Had a blast.

Soundtrack clipped a ton during my playthrough, which is a shame because it was a vibe

Sorry to hear that. It's a known issue with Bevy (the engine used) on the browser. It tends to be a bit better on chrome, and should not be an issue at all on native (windows/mac os/linux). If you had downloaded it and heard issues, let me know.

Just beat the game. Could you share which level editor did you use to create the level?

We used Blender. Check out the postmortem for a bit more info: https://dgriffin.itch.io/subfuse/devlog/422315/subfuse-postmortem

That's amazing. Is the lighting all baked externally, or what

(+2)

Thanks! Yep, the lighting was baked in blender. The lighting for the larger architectural elements were baked to texture maps, and for the smaller props it was baked to vertex colors.

Hard to tell if the game isn't finished or I'm just not getting it. I got upstairs and picked up the money but I can't find anything else to do. Atmosphere is awesome, I'd love to try to beat it if I knew it was beatable.

Thanks! If you get to the title screen, you beat it. Sounds like you've got a way to go.

This game creates a really thick atmosphere over a very short time, and grants a sense of surrealism and intrigue I've not felt in a while. While this is clearly 'just' a skill demo, I wouldn't mind seeing it thought on for a few years and revisited in an expanded format.

Great showcase of Bevy's capabilities and a nice little puzzle. I had no issues with the web build on an m1 mac in chrome.

Had the same general experience as Nathan-Franck.

That was really nice! It took me a lot longer than I  care to admit, but hats off! The visuals are impeccable.

Great atmosphere, props and lighting! Got out of the garage after some tinkering, the ring puzzles definitely didn't click - at some point I realized that the next area was available, where's a zelda do-do-do-doo sound when you need it
